The Lachin Corridor, the road connecting Nagorno-Karabakh to Armenia, has been blocked for over 48 hours, cutting off the region’s imports of food and medical supplies. Since Tuesday evening, the gas supply to the region has also been disconnected.

The Armenian Ambassador to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland, Varuzhan Nersesyan, published an article in the popular publications The Telegraph and The Economist, in which he cited the atrocities committed by the Azerbaijani Armed Forces against the Armenian military personnel presented by the Scottish MP in the House of Commons.

Up to one hundred people were detained during a protest in Baku. Those who came to the rally organized by the opposition Popular Front Party demanded freedom of assembly, the release of political prisoners, the opening of Azerbaijan’s land borders and the holding of free elections.

The senseless attack on the territory of Armenia showed that Azerbaijani President Aliyev is not going to stop there. Receiving back seven regions? adjacent to Nagorno-Karabakh? are not enough for Aliyev. He now wants the Sunik region.

On August 31, 2022, the leaders of Armenia and Azerbaijan held their fourth meeting in Brussels with the mediation of the President of the European Council Charles Michel. Following the four-hour meeting, Michel called the talks “open and productive”. Reactions in Yerevan and Baku, however, were not as optimistic. The official statement released by the Armenian government outlined a general overview of the issues discussed, noting that “the next meeting of the leaders of the countries will take place in November.” Baku kept silent on the official level, but state sponsored media outlets aimed to show that Ilham Aliyev was not fully satisfied with the results.
